How NYC Emergency Pros works
NYC Emergency Pros is a free referral and matching service. When you call or fill in our form, we pass your request to an independent local company, or a referral network of companies, that handles that kind of job in your area. That company contacts you, explains the price, and does the work if you hire them.
What we are not
- We are not a plumber, roofer, exterminator, locksmith, towing company, body shop or any other contractor, and we don’t employ technicians.
- We are not the City of New York, 311, HPD, a utility, or any government agency.
- We don’t check or guarantee providers’ licenses, insurance, prices, availability or work.
How we are paid
You never pay us anything. We may be paid a fee by the provider or referral network when we pass along a request or a phone call. That fee may affect which company we pass your request to.
Protect yourself
- Ask for the company’s license number and look it up. NYC’s DCWP license search covers home improvement contractors, tow companies and locksmiths. The NYC Department of Buildings covers plumbers. The NYS Department of Labor covers mold contractors.
- Get the price and scope in writing before work starts.
- In a rental, many problems (heat, hot water, building leaks, pests, mold) are the landlord’s responsibility. Tell them in writing and use 311 if needed.
